VHBG Raised Over 160k during 6th Annual Band Together Event

On Saturday, Sept. 12, Virginia Home for Boys and Girls (VHBG) raised over 160k during its 6th Annual Band Together Event. Over 500 guests attended the sold-out event to raise money for school uniforms, lunch, text books, therapy and counseling, and online academic remediation of children who attend John G. Wood Alternative School (JGW).

“I can’t tell you how much it means to us to see such an incredible outpouring of support for the children and families we serve,” said Virginia Home for Boys and Girls President Claiborne Mason. “We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to the volunteers who made this event so spectacular, and of course to the sponsors and donors whose gifts will allow us to provide the above-and-beyond level of care for which VHBG is known.”

20x24-34(1)Guests danced to music from Grammy-nominated artist Yarn and dined on food from Mosaic and Rappahannock Oyster Company under white tents on the grounds of Kelly and Tiff Armstrong’s home. The Band Together Committee, a volunteer based committee, chaired by Taryn and Matt White, and co-chaired by Sarah Ann and Whit Knier sold tickets, band aids and copper mugs to guests to raise funds for the students of JGW.
