The Richmond community generously provided over 8,000 lbs. of canned food and countless volunteer hours to support a food drive that benefitted GoochlandCares, UP RVA, and Henrico County Family and Community Engagement.
The food drive, which occurred on Friday, May 1, was located at the Tuckahoe Village Shopping Center in front of Holland Family Chiropractic, 11226 Patterson Avenue, Richmond, VA. Over thirty volunteers mobilized a drive-through, drop-off process where social and compassionate distancing was exercised.
Toby Desch, executive director of UP RVA shared, “UP RVA is so grateful to the Richmond community for providing our families with so much food this past Friday. It was so nice to be able to drop off bags of groceries with our families as they headed into the weekend. Our students, families, and staff are extremely grateful for everyone’s generosity.”
Because of the success and generosity of this event, there is another food drive scheduled:
Community Food Drive #3
MONDAY, JUNE 1 from 10AM to 2PM
Tuckahoe Village Shopping Center
at 11226 Patterson Avenue, Richmond, VA 23238
In front of Holland Family Chiropractic
Please consider ordering canned food in advance to bring to the drive or bring non-perishable donations such as: canned meats (chicken, tuna, pork, salmon, and beef), soups and stews, canned fruits and vegetables, pasta, pasta sauce, and individually wrapped snacks. Flip-top cans are helpful, especially for our younger recipients.
Community members can support these organizations by volunteering or making a direct monetary donation.
