Ever wanted to walk Captain Hook’s plank in a tux or evening gown? Or dance to live music on a stage filled with princesses ages one to ninety-nine and beyond? Thanks to Virginia Rep, you may have the opportunity to enjoy all that and more at the Fairy Tale Ball, Saturday, March 23, at Virginia Rep Center on Broad Street.
This year’s theme? Pirate and Princess Paradise. So break out your eye patches and tiaras along with those tuxedos and formal gowns, and come be part of the fun!
Adults and kids of all ages are invited to join in the fun. The evening will feature dancing to the tunes of Jangling Reinharts, a buffet dinner, both kids and adult beverages, live musical performances, children’s activities, and lots of pirate’s prizes aplenty in the form of silent and online auctions.
My husband, our three-year-old daughter, and I attended the ball last year, and we were wowed from start to finish. From the red carpet and tented entrance with valets and characters from various children’s theater productions greeting us, to the abundance of choices to satiate a sweet tooth and great opportunities to burn it all off by boogying down on the dance floor, it was a night for the books. We can’t wait to come back for more at this year’s ball!
Anyone else remember your parents getting dressed to the nines and then leaving you to wonder what kind of magical fairytale kind of party you were missing out on? I sure do. Mom in a fancy ball gown, dad in his tux, it all seemed so out of my reach as a kid. Consider treating your kids, yourselves, and Grandma and Grandpa, too, to an evening the whole family will treasure for a lifetime. We’ll be there, tuxedo, evening gown, Rapunzel costume, pet chameleon, and all!
Funds raised from the Fairy Tale Ball benefit Children’s Theatre of Virginia and innovative wellness initiatives such as Hugs and Kisses, Virginia’s principal child sexual abuse prevention program since 1983.
