For 3rd-8th Grade Chesterfield County Students
Richmond Children’s Writers is sponsoring their first contest this winter to showcase young creative writing talent in Chesterfield County. The contest challenges students to get creative and submit writing entries for a variety of prizes and a chance to win the coveted grand prize, a valuable scholarship to one of the incredible Richmond Young Writers Workshops.
Richmond Children’s Writers consists of ten professional children’s book writers/illustrators who believe in the indispensable value of good literature in the lives of children. Our mission is to foster the professional development of the creators of children’s literature, promote connections between children’s authors and other members of the literary community, and nurture an environment in which children’s literature can be appreciated by the widest possible audience. The group regularly participates in managing an informative blog for writers at http://richmondchildrenswriters.blogspot.com/ and are active members of James River Writers and Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators.
Lana Krumwiede, author of Freakling (One of the 2013 B.O.B. books for CCPS) is the leader of Richmond Children’s Writers and director of the contest.
