“Let’s Grow This Thing!” Letter from M4K Grower and a New Fundraising Goal

Dear friends,

You guessed it, it’s time for my mustache to make its annual appearance and for us to raise a boat load of money for a great cause! Last year, Mustaches for Kids raised an astounding $850,000 to support Richmond children’s charities.

This year, we’re raising our goal once again to – wait for it! – ONE MILLION DOLLARS!

Sure, hitting the $1 million mark may seem aggressive, but our collective mustaches have continued to surprise each year. They keep raising the bar to levels we, as clean-shaven mortals, didn’t think were possible. Thus, we continue to strive for more, soaring to new heights, and cracking barriers once thought insurmountable.

When a Mustache is a Beacon of Hope

You see, a mustache isn’t just a versatile facial accessory. It’s a beacon of hope and new beginnings. Each year, we growers start clean-shaven, unsure of what lies ahead for our upper lips. In many ways, Shave Day represents the fresh start sought by the children we help. From there, we embark on a journey with one goal in mind: Improving the lives of children in the Richmond area.

But we need your help. It’s always your generosity that allows our mustaches to flourish. Remember, not all heroes wear capes – but they all can donate to a sweet mustache.

For those new to the game here’s how it works:

  1. I grow a fantastic mustache from now until December 1.
  2. My wife Meghan parades me around like I’m a new Coach purse (sorry ladies, seat’s taken).
  3. You go to Mike Keogh at M4K Richmond to monitor my growth and donate.
  4. M4K Richmond raises a whole bunch of money for local children’s charities.

About M4K Richmond

M4K Richmond is an official 501(c)(3) charitable organization with the IRS devoted to improving the lives of Richmond-area children through individual fundraising, corporate partnerships, and having a little fun with facial hair. All donations are tax deductible. It is also a 100% volunteer-run charity with all operating costs covered by corporate partnerships which means 100% of all in-kind donations from you go directly to our charities. This year, we have four main charities:

  • ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation
  • Greater Richmond SCAN
  • Children’s Hospital of Richmond
  • Feed More

You can find more information and a full list of all of our benefiting charities at M4kRichmond.org.

As you can see, we are impacting local children in a variety of ways.  Your help and support are greatly appreciated. As always, I promise to k

eep the emails to a minimum (usually once a week). I just want everyone to know my new look is not to intimidate you, but merely an attempt to give back to our community – and maybe give you a little chuckle in the process.

Oh, and feel free to forward this to co-workers, family, friends, or casual acquaintances who might want to help the kids.

Thanks again to all of you for the support you’ve given me in the past. Let’s grow this thing!
