Dairy Queen’s Thirteenth Annual Miracle Treat Day is Thursday, July 27

DQ Grill & Chill and Dairy Queen locations throughout the U.S. will raise funds to help save and improve the lives of sick and injured children receiving care at CMN Hospitals. During Miracle Treat Day, $1 or more from every Blizzard® Treat sold at participating locations will be donated to CMN Hospitals, which raises funds and awareness for 170 children’s hospitals across the U.S. and Canada. Last year in Richmond, Miracle Treat Day and Miracle Balloon sales at DQ stores raised more than $14,400 to support Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU (CHoR).

These funds help provide pediatric health care services for children like Carter Jackson who has a remarkable medical story to tell thanks to the treatment he receives at CHoR. After spending the first few weeks if his life in the hospital, Carter was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called Tetrasomy 18p. At just one month old, Carter was referred to CHoR and today, Carter visits the hospital four times a week to receive occupational, physical, speech, and feeding therapies. Because of his hard work, determination and therapies, Carter has made great progress over the years. “We’ve had to be patient with most milestones in Carter’s life but he works hard to overcome anything in his way,” says his mom, Jamie.

Donations collected on Miracle Treat Day will support the growth and advancement of clinical programs and services at CHoR. In the past, funds raised through efforts like Miracle Treat Day have been used to support services such as the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), the Nephrology Program, the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), the Emergency Department, and the Healthy Lifestyles Center at CHoR.

Since 1984, the Dairy Queen system has raised more than $125 million for the charity through fundraising efforts including Miracle Treat Day, the Miracle Balloon campaign and other local initiatives.

To help celebrate Miracle Treat Day, fans are encouraged to use #MiracleTreatDay on social media and invite others to join them in visiting a participating DQ location on Thursday, July 27.
