Programs at Ettrick Community Building

The Chesterfield County Department of Parks and Recreation is offering a series of community classes and programs at the Mayes-Colbert Ettrick Community Building, 20621 Woodpecker Road. Programs include gardening seminars, social activities for seniors, clubs for single parents and retirees, youth fitness classes, and dance or game nights. Many activities other than the youth karate programs are free or are a nominal fee.

Financial First Aid (course 28100)
Tuesday, Feb. 25, 6-7:15 p.m.
There are many circumstances in life that can destroy even the best money-management plan. This workshop is specifically for those in crisis — focusing on regaining control through careful financial assessment, expense prioritization and effective negotiations with creditors. Free.

Kickin’ Karate (course 27785)
Mondays and Wednesdays, March 31-April 30, 7:30-8:30 p.m.
This ongoing program for kids aged 7 and older is appropriate for all belt levels. Learn self-defense, safety awareness, self-discipline, respect and how to avoid dangerous situations. Register by first day of class. Fee: $50.

Tough Tots — Little Dragons Karate Club (course 27799)
Wednesdays, April 2-30, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
This program for kids aged 4-6 will teach respect, discipline and stranger danger. Register by first day of class. Fee: $25.
