Richmond and Henrico Health Districts (RHHD) received notification that it will receive a shipment of 10,000 Johnson and Johnson (J&J) vaccines next week. RHHD will use the J&J vaccines in its own clinics and re-distribute some of the supply to partners.
The majority of the J&J shipment (8,000 doses) will go towards mass clinics at Richmond Raceway. Many pre-registered individuals who have qualifying conditions or employment status will be contacted and entered into the CDC’s VAMS registration system where they can select an appointment. An additional 500 doses will be utilized for small and mid-sized RHHD events, such as onsite clinics at independent living facilities, a drive thru event for individuals with disabilities and their caretakers, and mobile clinics for homebound seniors.
The remaining 1,500 doses will be re-distributed to partner pharmacies, health systems, and a rehab facility to vaccinate their eligible patients, with an emphasis on priority populations.
RHHD does not have information at this time of the quantity of J&J vaccines it will receive in the coming weeks. Vaccine supply continues to be limited. RHHD encourages anyone interested in a vaccine who is not pre-registered to pre-register at vaccinate.virginia.gov or by calling 877-VAX-IN-VA.
