The Richmond Symphony is excited to announce their newest education program – Youth Community Strings! Designed for young elementary students with no previous musical experience, children will be guided from the beginning of their musical journey. Through intensive music education, students will develop life skills that will help them grow academically, socially, and emotionally. The program promotes civic engagement and social change through music making. Participants will receive a robust music education, learn to play an instrument, and find a sense of belonging through playing music.
There is no cost to participate and all instruments and supplies will be provided! Located at Saint Paul’s Baptist Church on the city’s south side, the program will run every Tuesday through Friday after school following the RPS 23/24 school year calendar. Transportation to and from the program is offered to some RPS elementary schools. Rising 2nd graders are welcome to apply and capacity is limited to the first class of participants. Priority enrollment will be given to families who are able to demonstrate financial need on their application. Applications are due July 14th so don’t delay!
