Sportable, a local non-profit providing sporting opportunities to people with physical and visual disabilities, is pleased to announce that it will be hosting the 4th Annual Sportable Tailgate at the Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Facility on October 24th. The event will take place from 4-8pm and will feature local food trucks, beer trucks, and live musical entertainment by Richmond’s own Big Payback, a James Brown tribute band headed up by local musician Kelli Strawbridge.
“We are tremendously excited to be moving our Sportable Tailgate to the Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center,” commented Hunter Leemon, Executive Director at Sportable. “We have built a great event over the years and this facility gives us the opportunity to make it an even bigger event while keeping the same intimate feel with the local food trucks. As well, the Big Payback is a great local band and we are thrilled they are playing our event.”
The Presenting Sponsor of the Sportable Tailgate in 2015 is Bon Secours Richmond Health System. Bon Secours has been a long supporter of Sportable, having been involved with the Tailgate since its inception in 2011, and has been a supporter of Sportable programming throughout Greater Richmond.
“It is such a pleasure to be part of this event and to extend our relationship with Sportable here in Greater Richmond,” remarked Leigh Sewell, Vice President of Service Line Strategy for Bon Secours Richmond Health System. “Bon Secours is committed to building healthier communities, and Sportable does important work in that area for a population that would otherwise go without opportunities to be physically active. We applaud their work and are happy to support their cause. ”
The Sportable Tailgate is the largest fundraiser of the year for the organization and is highlighted by a celebration of the accomplishments of Sportable athletes throughout the year in addition to local food offerings, live musical entertainment, and beer from local and regional breweries. Admission to the 4th Annual Sportable Tailgate is $50 and includes all food and beverage. Tickets can be purchased at Sportable.org
