Willow Lawn Welcomes “Family Meal” – Diner-Style Restaurant

FamilyMealChef Bryan Voltaggio is set to open Family Meal, his diner-style restaurant, in Richmond at The Shops at Willow Lane and will kick off regular business hours April 6, seven days a week. Breakfast will be served all day.

This new location marks the fourth of the Family Meal concept – the first opened in Frederick, Maryland, in June 2012; the second in Baltimore in January 2015, and the third in Ashburn, Virginia in February 2015. The Richmond location marks the ninth restaurant in the Bryan Voltaggio portfolio.

The 4,000 square-foot location at The Shops at Willow Lawn will offer modern twists on time-honored American classics by putting a Southern flair on some recipes, a sophisticated, global touch on others, and consistently rotating seasonal, Mid-Atlantic ingredients. Family Meal favorites will be served such as hoecakes with pimento cheese, maple bacon jam, and pickle relish; fried chicken served with buttermilk biscuits, pickles, and hot sauce; softshell crab sandwich with smoked crab, John Cope’s corn, tomato, and bacon; as well as regionally-influenced dishes.

“I wanted to bring the Family Meal concept that is enjoyed by so many throughout the Mid-Atlantic to the Richmond community,” says Voltaggio. “My family frequently visits Family Meal and I look forward to sharing it with the local families, working professionals, and visitors alike. Our menu brings homemade, unique approaches to classic dishes that will please adults, and children, and all ages in between who visit us at The Shops at Willow Lawn.”

Open seven days a week, breakfast, lunch and dinner, Family Meal combines the two most important elements of American lifestyle: families being the most important, and a great meal the second. Whether breakfast, lunch, or dinner, a great meal shared with friends and family is the core value of the concept.

“Having visited Richmond quite often for most family gatherings, I knew that opening our Family Meal concept would be a great fit for the community,” says Staples. “This expansion marks our first venture in Richmond, which now allows our Family Meal concept to be enjoyed throughout the Mid-Atlantic, from Frederick to Baltimore to Ashburn to Richmond.”

Voltaggio and Staples are hosting an invitation-only press event at the restaurant on Friday, April 3, at 3:00 p.m.

For more information, please visit www.voltfamilymeal.com or call 804-447-1879 or 301-272-1448 for reservations.
