History Explorer Day: Frederick Douglass

Meet Frederick Douglass, portrayed by Nathan M. Richardson, and hear him speak about his evolving views on the U.S. Constitution and American Democracy. Presentations at 11:00am and 2:00pm Learn how this formerly enslaved man turned writer, orator, and abolitionist used photography to further his message of freedom and equality by creating a craft using Douglass’ words and image. Included in museum admission, the ACWM offers free admission to all Virginia Public and Homeschool School students.
