No matter what the mom in your life is into, there are fun ways to celebrate her all over the Richmond area in the days leading up to Mother’s Day. The RFM calendar is filled with Mother’s Day events, and we teamed up with Sarah Bloom at 12 on Your Side for their RVA Parenting segment to round up a few ideas the whole family is sure to enjoy:
Agecroft Hall & Gardens

On Mother’s Day, the gardens and grounds will be free to visit from 12:00 PM until 5:00 PM ($12 to tour the house). They’ll have food trucks and other vendors, and there will be Mother’s Day concert with the Richmond Concert Band from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM. DuCard Vineyards will be selling wine for the 21+ crowd to enjoy throughout the event. You can bring a picnic and blankets and chairs and make a fun free day and evening of it. Get the full event details on their website.
Richmond Flying Squirrels Games at CarMax Park

If Mom’s a sports lover (and maybe even if she’s not!), she’ll love checking out the new CarMax Park. The Richmond Flying Squirrels are in town on Mother’s Day weekend, and on Saturday, they’ll be unveiling their new Nutasha uniform, making them the first baseball team to feature a female mascot jersey. They will also have in-your-face fireworks on Saturday, and on Sunday, they’ll wear their Nutasha jerseys again, and kids ages 14 and under can run the bases after the game. Gates open at 12:30 on Mother’s Day, with the first pitch at 2:05PM.
Our favorite thing about this new stadium is that there is seating all the way around the field, and there are these fabulous $10 standing room only spots, either the picnic tables and bar rails along 3rd base line or at the terrace green in the outfield by the playground, where there’s probably room to spread out a blanket and make a picnic of it. Get all of the details on their website.
Virginia Museum of History & Culture

If museums are mom’s thing, Virginia Museum of History & Culture has free admission for all moms on Mother’s Day, which includes access to all galleries, including current special exhibitions, We The People: The World in Our Commonwealth and UnBound: Free Black Virginians, 1619-1865, plus the display Revolutionary Allies.
We really love their Commonwealth Café, featuring delicious food from Stella’s Grocery (you’ll also see beloved Richmond restaurateur Stella Dikos in the We The People exhibit!). Get more details on their website.
Riverfront Canal Cruises

See the city from a whole new perspective as you glide through the James River and Kanawha Canal in a covered boat. Each 40-minute, narrated tour brings Richmond’s story to life, from the era of Chief Powhatan to the rise of the city’s industrial and transportation history, all while passing iconic sights like the Triple Crossing, the Virginia Capital Trail, and scenic riverfront views.
On Mother’s Day weekend (May 8- 10), Riverfront Canal Cruises is offering $1 off your online ticket purchase when you use code MD2026 at checkout.
Historical tours run Monday to Friday from noon to 7 PM, Saturdays from 11 AM to 8 PM, and Sundays from 11 AM to 7 PM. For more information and tickets, visit their website.

KEVA Studio Make Your Own Earrings Event

Fit4Mom

Fit4Mom is hosting a free Mother’s Day Mash Up Class on Saturday, May 9, at 9:00 AM at Libbie Mill. You’ll experience all of their formats (Stroller Strides, Strides 360, and Body Ignite) during this 45-minute fun, energizing, and totally free workout alongside an amazing community of moms. It’s the perfect way to sample their programs, get a great workout in, and connect with other local moms.

After class, they’ll keep the fun going with a cute keepsake craft for the kids to do, and they’ll grab brunch at Yellow Umbrella or RVA Bakehouse. More information is available on their website.
