On Wednesday, August 5, the Richmond community is invited to come together for an evening of live music, remembrance, and action as The Frankie Woolwine Story, Inc. launches The Frankie Challenge, a new pledge campaign encouraging people—especially young drivers—to commit to saying no to drinking & driving.
The campaign officially launches with the Rock The Frankie Challenge Kickoff Concert on Wednesday, August 5, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at River City Roll. The event is open to all ages and will feature live performances by the Bart Chucker Band and Widespread Panic cover artist – Alan Same. Admission is $25, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting The Frankie Woolwine Story.
The kickoff concert carries special significance as it takes place on the eve of the 10th anniversary of Frankie Woolwine’s death after he made the decision to drive intoxicated and was killed in a single-vehicle crash. The organization hopes to ensure Frankie’s story inspires others to make safer choices by transforming tragedy into action through education, awareness, and a community-wide commitment to ending impaired driving.

The Frankie Challenge Pledge Campaign is designed to turn a simple promise into a movement. Eligible participants who sign the pledge to never drink and drive will receive a promotional Uber voucher by text message while supplies last, reinforcing the importance of planning a safe ride home whenever alcohol is involved. Participants are then encouraged to post a fun challenge video on social media and nominate three friends to do the same. By combining social media with positive peer influence, the campaign aims to reach younger drivers in a way that is engaging, authentic, and shareable—encouraging conversations about making safe choices before a night out even begins.
“This isn’t just another fundraiser,” said Roy Woolwine, founder of The Frankie Woolwine Story, Inc. “It’s the launch of a movement. We want young people talking about this, posting about it, and challenging their friends to make the same commitment. That’s how real change begins. If one video leads to one life being saved, it’s worth it.”
