What:
- The Virginia Department of Veterans Services (DVS) will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 with a special ceremony, concert and other events.
- These events will honor and remember the nearly 3,000 Americans including many Virginia citizens who lost their lives during the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Arlington and on the downed aircraft in Shanksville, Pennsylvania and recognize the courage of the military personnel and first responders.
- September 11 each year is noted as Patriot Day – The National Day of Remembrance.
- Members of the public and the media are invited and encouraged to attend and participate.
- Free admission and parking onsite. Outside event.
When:
- Friday, September 11, 2026
- Pre-Ceremony Concert: 10:30 a.m. ET
- Official Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. ET
- Attendees should arrive no later than 10:15 a.m. to be seated for concert and ceremony.
- The Virginia War Memorial will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
