Tyrannosaurus Tot, the children’s bookstore and art studio on West Brookland Park Boulevard, invites Northside families to celebrate Halloween with two days of events on Friday, October 30 and Saturday, October 31.
Treats on the Block runs from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday along West Brookland Park Boulevard. Kids can trick-or-treat in costume while the small businesses of Brookland Park hand out free candy. Many shops will also have their own activities, some free and some with a fee.
During Treats on the Block, Tyrannosaurus Tot hosts Halloween Crafternoon on the Block from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Families can stop in and rotate between four Halloween crafts, play in a Halloween sensory bin and explore the light table. Halloween Crafternoon is $12 per child, and details and registration are available here.
On Saturday, Halloween itself, families can join a free storytime and craft at 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM, with a costume parade at 11:00 AM. Come in costume!

Owned by Jalesa and Johnathan Dodson, Tyrannosaurus Tot opened in Brookland Park this year after starting in Bowling Green. The shop pairs books with hands-on art, and offers weekly Open Studio drop-in craft time, storytimes, and classes for kids and families.
“We wanted a place where kids can read a story and then go make something from it,” said Jalesa Dodson, co-owner of Tyrannosaurus Tot.
