Nurse Next Door Addresses Needs of Seniors

NurseNextDoorOver the next twenty years, Greater Richmond’s demographic landscape will continue to change dramatically and the number of adults age sixty and over will outnumber school-aged children for the first time in history. The increasing senior population is fueling the demand for home health care and one of North America’s fastest growing providers, Nurse Next Door, has launched a locally owned and operated location in Richmond that will serve Central Virginia.

“Before I even started thinking about helping seniors as a business, I was a long time volunteer with Comfort Zone Camp,” says Nurse Next Door Richmond owner Tim Hoerrner. As a volunteer, he has devoted more than eight years working one-on-one with children who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, or primary caregiver. “The work I’ve done with campers at Comfort Zone Camp has been incredibly rewarding. When I decided to make a professional change, I knew wanted a business that had that same kind of impact on people’s lives, specifically on the lives of seniors.

Nurse Next Door is uniquely prepared to meet the massive challenge of caring for a generation of seniors with a care model unparalleled in the industry that includes a 24/7 staffed client care services center and a perfect match guarantee between client and caregiver.

Locally owned and operated by Tim Hoerrner, he hired Jenna Fink, BSN, RN, as his clinical director and administrator. Their shared vision and passion for helping people was a perfect match with the Nurse Next Door culture.

“I knew I needed someone who shared my vision of building a homecare organization with heart. Jenna’s twenty years of medical experience and caring heart was it,” says Hoerrner.  “Between her medical experience, my own experience managing large, customer- focused businesses and the Nurse Next Door systems, I knew I had a winning formula to start making people’s lives better.”

Nurse Next Door’s new Richmond office offers a full spectrum of in-home care services ranging from a few hours-per-week of caring companionship to around-the-clock care from a registered nurse. The office will service Midlothian, Richmond, Western Henrico and portions of Ashland, Goochland and Powhatan counties.
