Congregation Beth Ahabah is proud to celebrate our 225th Anniversary this year. As the sixth oldest Jewish congregation in the United States, Beth Ahabah traces its origins to 1789. Affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism, we offer Reform Jewish services and educational programs to our congregants and the community. We also operate the oldest Hebrew cemetery in Virginia and maintain the Beth Ahabah Museum and Archives, a collection chronicling the Southern Jewish experience.
As the High Holy Days approach, Congregation Beth Ahabah wants to remind the community that NOW is the best time to join our synagogue and take advantage of all we have to offer, including Religious School registration for 2013/2014.
The list of experiences and activities is long. We offer meaningful and accessible Sabbath and holiday worship services as well as a vibrant Religious School and active, inclusive youth groups for grades 3-12. Our adult and youth choirs, brotherhood and sisterhood and our Family Connection offer a wide array of programs and guest speakers throughout the year as well as informal Chavurot ( friendship circles) that inspire and encourage Jewish community among our congregants. There are also an abundance of educational opportunities like Introduction to Judaism, Advanced Judaism and Torah Study.
