Horse Day Camp at Heldergate Stables

HeldergateCampCollageHeldergate Stables is offering equestrian day camp just west of Short Pump. Choose from two different session options in July 2014. Camp is from 9am-5pm, Monday through Friday, with a horse show and family picnic on Saturday. Early drop-off and late pick-up are available at no extra charge.

Session 1: July 14-19
Session 2: July 21-25

Can’t make it during those weeks? Call or email to ask about a riding / horse experience program for a different portion of the summer! Heldergate is flexible and will be happy to accommodate riding plans for children, teens and adults of all experience levels.

For younger or beginning participants, camp offers a fun, active alternative to ordinary childcare, and includes early drop-off and late-pick-up when needed. Besides foundation horseback riding skills, students will learn horsemanship and theory, basic nutrition and barn care, and gain a sense of initiative and cooperation.

Participants will have one riding lesson each morning and one mounted activity in the afternoon. They will bond with “their” horses throughout the week as they learn to ride and care for them, and demonstrate their skills in the horse show on Saturday. Students will also participate in games, arts and crafts, group sports, water activities and more each day. Guest speakers who will present activities on certain days include vets, nutritionists, chiropractors, farriers and professional riders.

For our older or more advanced riders, camp offers a chance to have two lessons per day on your horse or ours, improve each phase of your riding, work toward individual riding or competition goals, sort out specific issues with your horse, and have some fun all day while doing it!

Owning a horse is not necessary; board for the week is available if you do!

Contact us by phone or email to reserve your spot today!

*Single days available for $70 per day*
*Discounts offered for participants who do both sessions.*
*Work in Goochland County Public Schools? Ask about special GCPS discount by contacting Heldergate via your GLND.K12.VA.US email address!*
