Rocketts Red Glare 2013 Celebrates Memorial Day with Fireworks on the James
Free, family-friendly event features music, entertainment at Rocketts Landing

Landing is ready to make the Richmond skyline sparkle this Memorial Day with Rocketts Red Glare on Sunday, May 26. The free event will feature fireworks, live music and family-friendly activities to celebrate the long holiday weekend.

Rocketts Red Glare begins at 5:30 p.m. with a performance by local musicians Mike Banks and Chris Norred on the volleyball court adjacent to The Boathouse one of our generous sponsors. Virginia party band Kings of Swing will take the stage at 6:30 p.m. and play throughout the fireworks show, which begins around 9 p.m.

“We’re excited to welcome Richmonders to Rocketts Landing to celebrate the official start of summer,” said Richard Souter, vice president at Rocketts Landing developer The WVS Companies. “Situated on the river’s banks and with the city skyline as a backdrop, everyone will get a great view of the fireworks.”

Wine and craft beer will be available, with the proceeds going to the Connor’s Hereos. Connor’s Heroes is a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is building a community of heroes who provide hope, guidance, and support to children with cancer and their families. Through programs such as Heroes Bags and Backpacks, Superheroes and Sidekicks, and Bone Marrow Transplant and Hospital Support, Connor’s Heroes provides unique, individualized support to families battling childhood cancer and treated at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU and the VCU Massey Cancer Center Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. They will create a fun kids area this year for kids of all ages. New this year the RVA Street Foodies will be joining us. 8 of the City’s best carts and trucks will be there so bring your appetit.

Rocketts Red Glare is free for all ages and will take place along the banks of the James River at Rocketts Landing. For more information, including details on complimentary parking, please visit our Facebook page or go to www.rockettsredglare.com and click “Upcoming Events.”

About Rocketts Landing
One of Richmond’s newest yet most historic locations, Rocketts Landing is an urban neighborhood featuring luxury condominiums, town homes, shops, offices, restaurants and a marina. A mile and a half from downtown Richmond, the development eventually will wind more than a mile along the banks of the James River. The community is being developed by The WVS Companies.
