Traveling Players Ensemble Presents Shakespeare’s “The Winter’s Tale”
Shakespeare’s royal romance with an enchanted ending. What starts as a celebration in the court of Sicily turns sour once its King Leontes believes that his wife has forsaken him for his childhood friend. After the downfall of a kingdom and a 16-year “winter” of reflection, this tale erupts into spring, revealing new love, revelry, and forgiveness. And, of course, the most famous stage direction in Shakespeare: “Exit, pursued by a bear.” Estimated run time: 75 minutes. Recommended for ages 12+. Weather permitting, the performance will take place on the lawn behind Agecroft Hall. Please be sure to bring your own chairs or blankets to sit on! Gates open at 6pm for pre-show picnicking.
