The bbgb scholarship is a nonacademic grant for high school seniors living in the greater richmond area. Created in 2021 to celebrate the eleventh anniversary of the Carytown indie bookseller and to give back to a community of young readers, the goal remains for this scholarship to be as accessible students as possible.
The minimal application requires only basic contact info, and an essay response to the question: What is a book that you think everyone in your community should read and why?
Alongside the monetary award of $1,000, the scholarship recipient will receive ten copies of the book they chose to write about in their essay to give to members in their community.
The deadline to submit applications is July 1. The recipient will be announced July 15.
This scholarship is for current high school seniors or class of 2024 graduates who live in the Greater Richmond Area. This scholarship is nonacademic and does not require enrollment into an accredited university or college. Here’s the application.
