Sweet Temptations by Teresa: Homemade Desserts Crafted with Love

From the Emergency Room to the Dessert Room

What began as a passion for baking has blossomed into a beloved Richmond-area dessert business. Teresa, an Emergency Room nurse with a love for creating delicious homemade treats, turned her passion into Sweet Temptations by Teresa, a dessert business and food truck serving the Richmond community and beyond.

Known for homemade goodness, quality ingredients, and exceptional customer service, Sweet Temptations by Teresa brings irresistible desserts to farmers markets, festivals, weddings, corporate gatherings, church functions, sporting events, family celebrations, and other community occasions throughout Richmond and Henrico.

Whether you’re craving a rich, fudgy brownie, a refreshing lemon bar, a slice of key lime cake, or a freshly baked cookie, every treat is made with care and a commitment to homemade excellence.

A Sweet Experience for Every Occasion

Sweet Temptations by Teresa offers a variety of desserts and services designed to make everyday moments and special occasions a little sweeter.

Customer favorites include:

  • Specialty brownies, including 10 delicious flavors throughout the year
  • Signature lemon bars
  • Key lime cake
  • Strawberry, mango, and lemon cakes
  • Fresh-baked cookies
  • Mini bundt cakes
  • Seasonal dessert baskets
  • Care packages
  • Custom dessert trays
  • Premium frozen desserts

Sweet Temptations also provides catering and dessert services for weddings, birthdays, family reunions, corporate events, church functions, school events, community festivals, fundraisers, and private celebrations. Delivery is available, and the dessert food truck can be booked to add a memorable—and delicious—experience to your next gathering.

A Brownie Worth Giving In To

Among the many tempting choices, one dessert consistently stands out: the Cream Cheese Brownie.

Teresa’s signature fudgy brownie is swirled with rich, creamy cheesecake to create an irresistible combination of chocolate and cream cheese. Moist, decadent, and baked from scratch, it’s become one of Sweet Temptations’ best-selling desserts and a customer favorite throughout Richmond.

Specialty brownie boxes start at $35, while mini bundt cakes are $36. Custom orders, care packages, seasonal gift baskets, and fundraising opportunities for schools, churches, and community organizations are also available.

More Than Dessert

For Teresa and Haywood, Sweet Temptations by Teresa is about more than satisfying a sweet tooth. It’s about bringing people together, creating memories, and sharing a little joy through food.

Some of their most meaningful experiences have come through customers who have shared just how much a dessert meant to them.

A customer once purchased Sweet Temptations’ triple chocolate oatmeal cookies for her father, who was in hospice and had stopped eating. She carried the cookies to him, and he loved them so much that he hid them under his pillow and ate them whenever he had enough energy.

In another memorable moment, Sweet Temptations provided 100 of its Seriously Fudge Brownies to a group of underserved youth on a fishing trip in North Carolina. It was a simple gesture, but one that gave the young participants a special treat to enjoy during their weekend together.

Then there was a 2023 visit to a farmers market in Yorktown that left an especially lasting impression. A customer purchased a mini bundt key lime cake to take home to her husband, who was battling cancer and had not been able to taste food for more than two years. When she returned the following week to purchase several more cakes, she shared that he had been able to taste the key lime cake, eat it, and enjoy it. For Teresa and Haywood, the story brought tears of joy and reinforced why they love what they do.

When a Sweet Treat Makes a Lasting Impression

Sweet Temptations recently had another unexpected moment that showed just how far a homemade dessert can travel.

When two-time New York Times bestselling author Clay Cane held a book signing in Ashland, Sweet Temptations sent brownies and key lime cake backstage. They weren’t sure whether he would receive the treats, let alone have the opportunity to enjoy them.

He did—and the desserts made an impression.

During a subsequent appearance on his show, Cane shared the story of receiving the brownies. He explained that he had been dealing with esophagitis while writing his book, losing 20 pounds and wondering whether he would make it through the illness. He said the brownies didn’t bother him and recalled that he and his driver even pulled over on the side of the road while traveling back to New Jersey to eat them.

The response was incredible. Sweet Temptations’ website generated more than $7,000 in sales in less than 24 hours.

For a small, locally rooted dessert business, it was a powerful reminder that something as simple as a brownie can create a connection that reaches far beyond the person who baked it.

Bringing People Together, One Dessert at a Time

Sweet Temptations by Teresa can be found at local pop-up markets, festivals, food truck events, and community gatherings throughout the Richmond and Henrico area, including appearances at On the Square, Yellow Umbrella, MKT@25TH, and other seasonal events.

Whether you’re picking up a box of brownies for your family, ordering a cake for a celebration, looking for a thoughtful care package, or booking a dessert food truck for your next event, Sweet Temptations by Teresa is ready to make the occasion a little sweeter.

With homemade recipes, quality ingredients, friendly service, and a genuine passion for the community, Teresa and Haywood are continuing to build a business centered on what matters most: good food, meaningful connections, and sweet memories.
