Fall Into Comfort: Get Your HVAC Ready Before the Chill Sets In

There’s something about a crisp fall morning that makes you want to grab a sweater and a pumpkin spice anything. While you’re embracing all things fall, take a moment to prepare your HVAC system for the cooler months ahead. A[TA1]  bit of prep now means your home stays warm, efficient, and hassle-free as temperatures drop.

Here’s your fall HVAC checklist to help you get prepared for the fall season:

  1. Schedule Seasonal Maintenance
Think of a preventative HVAC checkup like stretching before a long run — it gives your system a head start so it’s ready to perform when you need it most. Schedule a tune-up with your local Trane Comfort Specialist to catch small issues before they become bigger ones, just like tackling fall leaves before they pile up.
  2. Change Your Air Filters
A good rule of thumb: replace your air filter every 30 to 90 days to maintain optimal performance. When dust and dirt restrict airflow, your system must work overtime just to keep you comfortable — which means lower efficiency and a higher risk of breakdowns later.
  3. Upgrade to a Smart Thermostat
Fall prep gets even easier with a smart thermostat that does some of the thinking for you. The Trane® LINK UX360 or the Trane ComfortLink™ II XL1050 let you schedule, monitor, and adjust your system with ease. Connect to your home’s Wi-Fi and control everything remotely through the Trane Home App, so your system isn’t working harder than it needs to while you’re away.
  4. Clear the Air (Literally)
Everyday culprits like gas stoves, cleaning supplies, paint, and fireplaces can quietly affect your indoor air quality. Reducing exposure to the sources, using air purifiers, and choosing Certified asthma and allergy friendly® products wherever available can help keep the air in your home more breathable, especially as seasonal allergies peak and windows start closing for the season.
  5. Tidy Up Outside
Fall means falling leaves, pollen, and debris — and your outdoor unit can end up catching more of it than you’d think. Clearing twigs, leaves, and buildup around the unit protects airflow, prevents strain on your system, and helps you avoid costly repairs later.

A little fall prep goes a long way toward a warm, worry-free winter. To learn more about how Trane can help keep your home comfortable all season long, visit our website to find a dealer near you.
