Sportable, Central Virginia’s premier adaptive sports club, is proud to announce the Sportable Rim Riders and Sportable Spokes have earned bids to the 2024 NWBA Adult and Junior Division Wheelchair Basketball National Championships April 5-14 in Richmond, Virginia.

Sportable’s Junior Varsity team, the Spokes, will be one of 52 Junior Division teams set to compete April 5-7 at the state-of-the-art Henrico Sports and Events Center.  The 12th ranked Rim Riders will take to the courts one week later, April 12-14, when they compete for a NWBA Division II Championship title.

“We are incredibly proud of our own Sportable Rim Riders and Sportable Spokes for earning bids to the NWBA Wheelchair Basketball National Championships,” commented Hunter Leemon, Sportable CEO. “To represent Central Virginia as part of the 100-team field is a remarkable accomplishment, but to be able to compete for national titles right here in Richmond makes it even more of an honor. I encourage the entire community to come out to the Henrico Sports and Events Center in April, wear Sportable blue and orange, and cheer on our hometown teams.”

Founded in 1981, the Rim Riders wheelchair basketball team has been a mainstay in Richmond for more than 40 years. Introduced in 2006, youth wheelchair basketball was the second sports program ever offered by Sportable when youth players trained alongside the Richmond Rim Riders at Humphrey Calder Community Center. The Rim Riders officially merged with Sportable in 2017.

Pre-sale tickets are available starting at $12 at Sportable.org/Nationals-Tickets.
