Materials
- Pipe cleaners
- Yarn
- Fork
- Scissors
Instructions
- Gather materials. You will need 6 inch-long pipe cleaners, a fork, scissors, and yarn of your choice – we chose two colors for our dandelion flower crown.
- With your fork in one hand, hold your yarn end and pipe cleaner against it.
- Wrap your yarn around the fork and pipe cleaner 40-75 times (thicker yarn you can wrap less, thinner yarn you will need to wrap more). Cut your yarn tail from the ball.
- Carefully slide the wrapped yarn and pipe cleaner off of the fork, making sure to not let the pipe cleaner slide out.
- Twist each end of the pipe cleaner together, making sure to capture the wrapped yarn inside as tightly as possible.
- Use your scissors to cut through all of the loops you created.
- Trim off any funky ends until your flower reaches a shape you like. Fluffing the yarn with your hands can help with this.
- Now you have a yarn flower! Make about 9-15 more.
- Once you have enough, hold two flowers next to each other about two inches apart. Cross the stems over each other as if to form the letter T.
- Twist the stems together tightly to ensure your crown doesn’t come apart. Continue the same process until you have created a crown big enough to fit on your head.
- Once you’ve reached the end, twist together your first and last flower stems.
- Your crown is complete and ready for you to wear!
