The Play that Goes Wrong felt like the perfect escape from a busy back to school season. We laughed until our bellies hurt, and we were thoroughly captivated by the talented actors who even incorporated audience participation.
The show begins with Cornley Drama Society’s opening night of The Murder at Haversham Manor. As soon as the lights dim, everything that can go wrong, does! It was unlike any show I’d ever seen before: a murder victim who wakes up, parts of the set falling down, cast members repeatedly forgetting their lines.
The cast and crew are impeccable with their timing and ability to bring the audience into the story. The entire cast made the banter seem natural and easy.
I would recommend this show for ages 8+.
Teen Perspective
These actors are so good at being bad! The whole point of the show is for things to be messed up, and that’s exactly what happened.
The entire audience loved it. There were all different kinds of humor — puns, physical humor, comedic timing — and by the end, everyone was laughing. It was more silly than sophisticated, which is why it’s a great show for kids.
The set was beautiful and carefully created. The show even included smoke effects, fire, and interaction with the audience.
