CHESTERFIELD, VA. ( January 10, 2013) — The Greater Richmond ARC, an organization providing programs and services for individuals with developmental disabilities for nearly 60 years, has announced its 2013 weekend respite schedule for children.

Held at ARC’s Camp Baker in Chesterfield, the weekend respite program for children ages 10 to 17 is on select dates and provides youngsters with an opportunity to participate in a wide range of supervised activities, including music, arts and crafts, and community outings at its 22-acre, handicap-accessible facility.

The weekend respite program benefits everyone in the family, says Quintin Mitchell, vice president of developmental services at ARC.

“We provide services that enhance a person’s life. That‘s one less worry for parents because they are leaving their loved one in a an environment with a skilled staff that understands their child‘s needs,” Mitchell explained.

Children’s respite weekends begin Friday at 6 p.m. through Sunday at 4 p.m. the weekends of: January 11, February 1, March 1, April 5, May 3, May 31, July 5, August 2, September 13, October 11, November 8, and December 13. Cost per session is $593.86 or the equivalent in Medicaid waiver hours.

The Greater Richmond ARC’s Camp Baker will also host weekend respite sessions for adults (ages 18+) on specific dates throughout the year. For more information, call (804) 358-1874, (804) 748-4789, or visit www.richmondarc.org.
