Susan G. Komen Central Virginia will be hosting its annual signature community fundraising event – the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk™– this Saturday, May 11 at Brown’s Island, Richmond. Those wishing to join in the fight against breast cancer may still register online at komencentralva.org/walk or by calling (804) 320-1772.

The MORE THAN PINK Walk brings together an empowered community of hope to raise funds for breast cancer treatment, patient advocacy and lifesaving research.

The family-friendly event (formerly known as the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®) debuting this year kicks off with an interactive opening ceremony that demonstrates through powerful storytelling how the fundraising efforts of every participant fuel lifesaving research, critical patient care, needed community programs, and public policy advocacy. Additionally, walkers are able to experience the impact of their fundraising through the introduction of Komen’s organizational pillars and participate in special activities focused on research, care, community, and action.

Following the opening ceremonies, participants walk together starting and ending on Brown’s Island, providing a perfect place for them to share their stories and connections to breast cancer and the event.
