The Little Gym, the nationally recognized leader in experiential child development, is coming to Mechanicsville, with a grand opening set for October 3, 2026 — a milestone that lands squarely in the brand’s 50th anniversary year of helping children build confidence, coordination, and a lifelong love of movement.
The Mechanicsville location is owned and operated by Casey Enders, whose portfolio of Little Gym locations spans the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia region. A University of Virginia graduate with a background in management consulting at McKinsey & Company and leadership roles in the nonprofit sector, Enders was named the Unleashed Brands system’s Franchisee of the Year and serves as a 2026 Brand Ambassador. She is also a mother of four kids under seven. For the Mechanicsville opening, Enders is bringing together two key strengths: her own deep local roots as a Virginia mom raising her family in the state, and proven day-to-day leadership. Rysean Grant, one of the organization’s top-performing gym directors, is relocating from The Little Gym of Silver Spring to lead the Mechanicsville team — bringing years of hands-on experience running a thriving, family-favorite location.
“We’ve been so grateful to have the opportunity to share our love of The Little Gym with thousands of families across Maryland and Virginia over the last few years, and we knew we wanted to bring that same joy and serious fun to Mechanicsville,” said Casey Enders. “As a Virginia mom myself, this community is close to my heart, and I’m so grateful to be pairing that with our top operator, Rysean Grant, as he brings his experience and leadership to Mechanicsville.”
What Sets The Little Gym Apart

The Little Gym isn’t daycare and it isn’t a drop-in playground — it’s a progressive, milestone-driven approach to childhood development that has been refined over 50 years. Several things distinguish it for Mechanicsville families:
Programming begins in infancy (four months), supporting babies and parents from the very earliest stage of development. Narrowly age-banded classes aligned with AAP milestones. Rather than lumping wide age ranges together, classes are tightly grouped so each child is working on skills appropriate to their stage — in step with American Academy of Pediatrics developmental milestones. Noncompetitive and genuinely fun. There are no benchmarks to “win” or lose. Every child is encouraged at their own pace, building confidence through play rather than pressure. Serialized Instruction. A structured curriculum that builds week over week, so skills layer progressively instead of repeating — children are always advancing. Whole-child development. Classes build not just physical coordination and strength, but social and emotional skills like listening, sharing, taking turns, and trying again after a stumble. Trained, nurturing instructors. Certified teachers create a warm, encouraging environment where kids feel safe to take risks and grow. More than a class. Camps, Parents’ Survival Nights, and birthday parties make it a hub for families, not just a weekly appointment.
Programs span parent/child classes, gymnastics, and sports skills for children from four months to 12 years old, with a curriculum designed to grow right alongside each child.
The Mechanicsville location expects to create local jobs as it staffs up ahead of opening. Founding-family enrollment is already underway, with strong early demand from area families.
“The response from families has been incredible, and we haven’t even opened our doors yet,” said Rysean Grant. “I’ve seen firsthand at Silver Spring how much these classes mean to kids and parents. I can’t wait to bring that same energy to Mechanicsville and celebrate 50 years of The Little Gym together.”
