Richmond, VA—This summer’s pool visits took on a new meaning for many area Richmonders who raised food and funds for the Central Virginia Food Bank through the Dunk Hunger campaign. The swim team and community pools challenge raised the equivalent of 30,156 meals, with Canterbury Recreation Association claiming the Gold Medal with 6,956 meals contributed. Canterbury will be treated to a winners’ bash at their pool at 1300 Pump Road in Richmond’s west end, hosted by Radio Disney and Richmond Family Magazine, Wednesday, August 14, from 4:30 to 6:30. Photo and interview opportunities will be available.

Last year’s winning team was the Wyndham Tidal Waves, who edged out Canterbury Recreation Association by the narrowest of margins. The inaugural Dunk Hunger campaign raised the equivalent of 17,634 meals for the Central Virginia Food Bank. “We are excited to see this summer program grow by leaps and bounds, especially at a time when the Food Bank is in such need,” says Brenda Miller with FeedMore,Inc.

Dunk Hunger is presented by Richmond Family Magazine and the Virginia Swim Shop and is sponsored by Gold Medal Sponsor, College Nannies and Tutors of Richmond; Silver Medal Sponsor, Ortho Virginia; and Bronze Medal Sponsor, Jessica Morgan School of Dance.
